Who we are
FuelPriceCalculator.com ("we," "us") runs fuelpricecalculator.com. This page explains what information is collected when you use the site, what it's used for and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Calculator inputs. The distances, fuel economy figures and prices you enter are processed in your browser. They aren't sent to us or stored.
- Car picker. When you open "Pick your car," your browser downloads EPA vehicle data files from our server. The request contains no personal information beyond what any web request includes (see server logs below).
- Theme setting. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name "fpc-theme" so the site remembers it. It stays on your device, isn't a cookie and isn't sent to us. You can clear it by clearing your browser's site data.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard logs of requests: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
- Visit statistics. The site uses Umami, an analytics tool we host ourselves, to count page views and see which pages people use. It records the page visited, the page you came from, browser, device type and country, and it doesn't use cookies. These counts aren't used for advertising or to build a profile of you.
- Cookie banner. The banner is run by Consently. Loading it sends your IP address and browser details to Consently's servers, as with any web request, and your consent choice is recorded there. Consently's handling of that data is covered by its own privacy policy.
- Fonts. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts. When they load, Google receives your IP address and browser details, as with any web request. Google's handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Contact form. If you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject and message you enter are sent to our form handler at readyutilities.com and delivered to us by email. We use them only to reply to you. Please don't include sensitive personal information in a message.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.
Cookies
The site uses a consent banner from Consently, a cookie consent service, to ask for your choice and record it. Consently stores your choice so the banner doesn't keep asking, and keeps a log of consent choices as proof of what you picked. The calculators themselves don't set cookies. Details are on the Cookie Policy page.
Advertising and affiliate links
This site shows ads from Google AdSense, and may include affiliate links. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show and measure ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires it, the cookie banner asks for your consent before advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice there at any time. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and turn off personalized ads at Google's Ads Settings. Pages with affiliate links say so before the first link. See Advertising and affiliate links in the terms.
You can also opt out of personalized advertising through your browser settings, or through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out for U.S. visitors.
How we use information
We use the information above to run and secure the site and to answer messages. We don't sell your name, email address or messages to anyone, and we don't share them for targeted advertising.
Your choices and rights
The calculators work without cookies and without the theme setting. You can clear your browser's site data at any time.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR in the EU and UK and state laws such as California's give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or limit certain uses. To make a request, email admin@readyutilities.com. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
For visitors in the EU and UK, contact form and email data is handled on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering your message, and server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
How long we keep it
Messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your question and any follow-up. Server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to our sister site, GasMileageCalculators.com, and to sources such as fueleconomy.gov, the EPA, AAA and the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Other sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of the page changes with it. Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@readyutilities.com.
